Efrain’s is more than just a restaurant — it’s a Boulder institution. For over three decades, we’ve been serving up bold, authentic Northern Chihuahua-style Mexican food made from scratch, just like Efrain grew up eating in his hometown.
Our kitchen is known for doing things the hard way — the right way — with no shortcuts. Whether it’s our award-winning green chili (voted Best in Boulder) or our generously portioned enchiladas, everything we serve is built on tradition, quality ingredients, and serious flavor.

Today, Efrain’s is proudly run by Efrain himself and his nephew, Cristian, who’s been part of the restaurant family his entire life. Now managing the restaurant alongside Efrain, Cristian is committed to carrying on the family tradition with the same bold flavors, warm hospitality, and no-shortcut cooking that made Efrain’s a Boulder institution. We don’t take reservations — but we do recommend showing up early, especially if you’re chasing that perfect plate of green chili.
